Ling Bu Yi, the adopted son of Emperor Wen and a powerful general in the Black Armour Army, is on a mission to uncover the secrets behind a terrible tragedy—the massacre of an entire city and the destruction of his clan. During one of his missions, he crosses paths with Cheng Shao Shang, a clever and headstrong young woman living in a small village.

Shao Shang has grown up without much love or care, as her parents have been away fighting in the war for years. Left to be raised by her strict aunt and grandmother, she’s often been a troublemaker. But everything changes when her parents return home after a long absence.

Though Shao Shang had hoped for a warm reunion, the years apart have made things awkward. Unfazed, she decides to live life on her own terms, and her bold personality and sharp mind start to draw the attention of many, including the mysterious Ling Bu Yi.
